Proverbs 14:4

“Where no oxen are, the crib is clean: but much increase is by the strength of the ox.” Proverbs 14:4 KJV

I first read this verse in Proverbs a couple of years ago. There have been a few ideas that leaped from the page and almost like a key fitting a lock opened up wisdom to me.

With five children life is chaotic much of the time. There is friction in my spirit because I want a clean crib. A place of order, solitude and less messy. What I have is untidy, always in motion, and too noisy to my liking.

When this verse entered my heart I saw my family for what it is. It’s the blessing that increases our household. We are a team and have one another as a resource to lean on a helping hand, and a Three Musketeers spirit.

The Lord, through Proverbs 14:4, taught me that day the true measure of my blessing.

In uncertain times there is nothing better than a messy, smelly crib full of oxen.

Here is a  video discussing some of the ideas in Proverbs 14:4. Use this time to get closer to the Lord.

Talon’s New Bike

So glad to reveal this secret. She has ridden many many miles having outgrown her current bike. She’s the one child who works for her alone time with me, her father. I don’t know who was more excited, Talon or Daddy?

Thanks to everyone at Elite Cycling and especially Marcelo and Debbie. Today was a special.

Thank you Lord for the day that you provided.20190912_111639

Silverware for Father’s Day?

This is my Father’s Day gift. A set of silverware. An odd gift for Dad you might say but you see we have a strange metric to measure our success as a married man and woman with five children. In other words, a God made, natural family.

When Yané and I decided to marry we chose this set to place on our registry. My sister Donna and her husband Joseph delivered the goods. We have enjoyed countless meals with our original set.

Over the years, as we’ve added to our quiver and they learned to clean up after meals, many pieces were accidentally thrown into the trash and delivered to Mt. Trashmore. It’s become one of those inside jokes you share with your spouse alone.

We measure our marriage’s success by how many lost pieces of our original set of silverware have been lost as we build up the next generation.

Man and woman marry. Children follow. Husband and wife, Mommy and Daddy, sons and daughters with a sprinkle of twins. We are intact, not broken just as the Lord intends. Tonight we all eat with the same silverware once again.

Liverpool 2-0 Fulham Match Reaction

Another clean sheet. Another Mo Salah goal. It was business as usual as the Reds dispatched Fulham on a fine autumn day at Anfield.

The first half saw Liverpool create multiple chances while they enjoyed the majority of possession. Fulham seemed determined to keep it close against a potent Liverpool side. Their efforts were nearly rewarded when it appeared that Fulham’s Mitrovic had netted his side a goal. The play was ruled offside. During the ensuing debate between the Fulham players and the referee the Liverpool keeper, Alisson, played the ball up to Alenander-Arnold who spotted a breaking Salah on the right wing and delivered a perfect pass. Goal! Liverpool 1-0

After the break, Shaquiri scored at the Kop end from a beautifully placed cross for Robertson. Liverpool 2-0. This removed any fight the Fulham players may have still possessed. The remaining thirty plus minutes played out like a training session.

Liverpool finished the day with another clean sheet. Since the signing of Virgil van Dijk and Alisson the Reds’ have become a formidable force defensively. We expect nothing less than a solid performance from our back five against a struggling side like Fulham.

It was a very business-like performance from the Liverpool side looking to stake its claim to the top of the table. It is hard to find fault in a comfortable win, but Winaldum seemed a bit out of sorts in the midfield today. Bobby Firmino played in a more traditional ten role than his usual false nine and seemed absent from much of the game. Klopp continues to tinker with his lineups and tactical formations a luxury not afforded in seasons past. All in all, it was a good day for Liverpool.

The Reds head into the international break in a tight points race for the top spot before returning to action later this month away to Watford.

Kernel Panic

The iMac has died. This comes a couple weeks following the logic board failure to the PPC Power Mac Pro….or whatever.

The Chromebook and the Nexus 5 are the champs now. I guess that I will have to pull all of the drives from the dead machines.

At Home Music is going where it has never gone before, into print media advertising. It doesn’t have to because its CL strategy has changed fast as lightning as a lead has come in. That is where print fails. It is slow to grab people. It can be slow to change.

Change. I am waking up just before 05:00 but I choose to lie in bed and gently wake.

The bike and squats challenge continues. It’s hard but it’s easy. Bible reading is about routine as coffee in the morning. We are in the season of Lent so I have picked up my reading.

Talon is about to lose her first tooth and I am not ready. Her baby smile is about to be set to ruin. I don’t think Kendall likes the idea that their paths are diverging. Twins are a whole different experience and we are blessed to be stewards of a pair.

My studying is proceeding in a disciplined manner. I still need to find that next gear though. It’s close, I can feel it.

Well the weekend is here and I’m checking out for now.
