Relicensed

Got my massage license back or rather I had a new one issued. I’m no longer MA32604 but rather MA104441. I get a reboot. This time it’s the Lord’s idea. I heard HIs voice clear as a bell to get the license back. That was about three weeks ago and here I am. I am grateful for this second chance and all of the opportunities this presents.

Arise and Build

I remember the day I heard this sermon. Not the date but the day. I know where I was when I first heard Nehemiah 2:20.
“…The God of heaven, He will prosper us; therefore we his servants will arise and build…” KJV Nehemiah 2:20
It’s been about ten years since I heard Adrian Rogers preach on this bit of scripture. Since then I have read The Book of Nehemiah twice and have referred to this “Arise and Build” many times. It’s like a battle cry. The Lord is on my side. He’s already blessed me so I ought to do the work.
Here is Adrian Rogers’ sermon that changed my life, part 1:

May the Lord call you and bless you.

King Asa

I’ve committed to finishing my second cover to cover read of The Bible. My daily reading consists of Psalms and Proverbs along with the random plan. This morning after my routine reading I wanted to put the Good Book down but something tugged at me. Persevering, I was treated to the story of King Asa.

Now King Asa did all that was right in the eyes of the Lord, a relief in and of itself, and lived in peace. You know this part of the story is filled with good Kings and bad Kings so with King Asa turning his heart to God everything seems cool. But there is a reason we are given Asa’s story.

It turns out that towards the end of his reign the King turned away from God when God had always delivered the goods. I did a double-take. and reread the scripture.

I got the message right away. I won’t spoil it for you, but I got it. In that extra effort with the Word today God spoke to me. Thank you Lord for not letting me give up this morning.

Read your Bible.

Kyle’s Belief and the Water Outlet

We had a surprise car repair today. The water outlet, or its gasket, failed. This is a cooling system issue and so required immediate attention. Kyle and I noticed it this morning after running out to look for something. I really didn’t have CAR REPAIR on my agenda today but after identifying the likely culprit and watching a video with Kyle he thought we could do it. He’s been working on an old car in the driveway so he’s learned something about turning a wrench. So together we tackled the repair and it looks like it worked. It’s much nicer doing an ugly job with someone by your side. Thanks, water.outlet son.

Proverbs 14:4

“Where no oxen are, the crib is clean: but much increase is by the strength of the ox.” Proverbs 14:4 KJV

I first read this verse in Proverbs a couple of years ago. There have been a few ideas that leaped from the page and almost like a key fitting a lock opened up wisdom to me.

With five children life is chaotic much of the time. There is friction in my spirit because I want a clean crib. A place of order, solitude and less messy. What I have is untidy, always in motion, and too noisy to my liking.

When this verse entered my heart I saw my family for what it is. It’s the blessing that increases our household. We are a team and have one another as a resource to lean on a helping hand, and a Three Musketeers spirit.

The Lord, through Proverbs 14:4, taught me that day the true measure of my blessing.

In uncertain times there is nothing better than a messy, smelly crib full of oxen.

Here is a  video discussing some of the ideas in Proverbs 14:4. Use this time to get closer to the Lord.
